This official punch was produced in 1904 to supply the need for 1 centavo postal cards. Collector Mark Tyx has the earliest known usage, that being January 1, 1904.
There are several varieties of the "CUBA. –2c. de Peso." overprint (which was overprinted in the United States). These include a break in the top of the "C" in CUBA, a missing period after Peso, and a large period after Peso. There are many plate flaws creating varieties in the underlying U.S. postal card, such as the partially missing grommet on top of the indicium and the completely missing grommet.
