1992 - 500th Anniversary of Columbus' Discovery of America – Late usage (2009) from Ciego de Avila, Cuba, to England
This aerogramme was first sold as a new issue commemorating the Encounter of Two Worlds, the transnational celebration of the 1492 discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus. It was sold at the Stamp Expo held at Seville. It was not placed on sale at any post office in Cuba. No FDC cancel is known. Some years later, the aerogramme was sold in Cuban currency on a strict ration basis to collectors that were members of the Cuban Philatelic Federation. According to EDIFIL, the print run was 22,000. All uses known are philatelic and late, as shown here by a January, 2009 use.
